We tested the new DJI Osmo Pocket (WetalkUAV)
The question we all have: can the new DJI Osmo Pocket be a game changer?
We are excited to announce on our blog that Alex, our Assen Eyewear founder has been testing and reviewing the DJI Osmo Pocket for Wetalkuav's Youtube channel. Here you can check out the full review:
Nowadays, we have GoPros for POV footage, good phone stabilisers, DSLR and mirrorless cameras among other powerful devices that allow us to shoot great footage with little effort.
DJI thought that they could include everything into one single product, with the size of your hand.We wanted to know whether DJI succeeded creating this product.
Here are a few of the most important specs:
The Osmo Pocket is a 3 axis gimbal with a 4k60 camera included.
Weight : 116g
Sensor size 1/2.3inch
FOV 80º F2.0 (Lens)
Screen Size 1.08inch
Micro SD Slot up to 256gB recommended class 3
Battery life 140 min
The DJI Osmo Pocket is the 4th gen of DJI stabilisers, after Osmo+, OM1 and OM2. But it’s the second with a camera included.
The Osmo Pocket, as DJI usually makes in their products, comes with many intelligent functions.
Selfie Mode with Face Tracker
2 mics, for a better recording experience
DJi promises a very high quality night shot
2 Panoramas styles : 180º 3x3
3 gimbal modes: follow, tilt block and FPV
The DJI Mimo app is new. We will see whether more DJI products now or in the future will be using this app too. It is a very simple, easy to use and to learn app, which will allow the user to jump onto PRO mode. That will allow him/her to change values such as ISO or Shutter Speed, aiming for that perfect cinematic look more easily.
The 1.08inch screen included on the DJI Osmo Pocket is also very interesting. It has a variety of functions, including a playback for your footage, changing settings such as resolution, doing pano shots, etc.
For Instagram Story lovers, or just social media fans, that want to record in vertical mode, the camera will flip 90º just by holding the device horizontally. Fast and easy.
Oh and by the way if you're asking, the device doesn’t rotate 360.
Alex tested the Wireless module which will allow you to connect your phone via bluetooth to the Osmo Pocket, and also a control dial, allowing him to tilt and move the camera with a dial, plus adding a couple of buttons.
There are a few more nice accessories that we can’t wait to see and test: - waterproof case
- ND filters
- Extension rod
- 3.5mm jack adapter for ext microphones
If all these things turn out to be positive, we are talking here about a GoPro killer and an absolute game changer.
The best camera is always going to be the one that fits your needs better. And this DJI Osmo Pocket seems to fulfil all of your desires.
